Curriculum
EYFS curriculum
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and nurture holistic development through the immersive forest school approach.
EYFS offers a unique opportunity to integrate the curriculum within the forest school ethos. Inspired by the children's own ideas and guided by the changing seasons, our thematic approach embraces the wonders of the natural world.
This encourages children to connect and engage with each other, nurturing their mental and physical development. Through group activities and exploring together, they build important social skills and improve their physical abilities.
For example:
Engaging in bug hunts and exploring the miracle of births and new life, our pupils develop a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living things.
From tending to gardens 'plot to plot' to constructing dens and mud kitchens, children unleash their creativity while learning valuable skills through hands-on experiences.
Setting strong academic foundations
While our EYFS curriculum celebrates the freedom of outdoor learning, we remain committed to providing a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy. Daily sessions dedicated to phonics, literacy, and mathematics ensure that every child receives the tools they need for academic success.
Through our EYFS curriculum, we strive to cultivate a lifelong love for learning while nurturing each child's unique talents and abilities.
Year 1 - 6 curriculum
We understand that a strong, robust primary education is of fundamental importance to a child's development.
In Years 1-6, we prioritise formal classroom teaching to establish strong foundations in literacy and mathematics, ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.
We continuously seek opportunities to enrich learning experiences through the forest school approach, integrating the natural world into our curriculum.
Practical maths skills: Children develop practical maths skills such as measuring, understanding ratios, and budgeting, all while exploring the world around them.
Inspiration from nature: Using the beauty of the natural world as inspiration, we engage children in reading and writing activities, igniting their creativity and imagination.
Every day is unique: We believe in the diversity of learning experiences. No two days are the same as we strive to keep learning exciting and engaging for all our pupils.
